Rolls-Royce takes off with new market

ROLLS-ROYCE has won a £620million contract to supply jet engines for a new fleet of aircraft for Japanese airline Skymark.

In its first contract with the airline, it will supply Trent 900 engines for six Airbus A380s following a deal to provide Trent 700 engines for 10 Airbus A330s.

Bruce Blythe, senior vice president civil aerospace, said: "We are delighted Skymark is putting its trust in our technology and support services. This latest order reinforces the market leading positions of these Trent engines."

Separately, Pegasus Airlines placed Turkey's largest aircraft order in a £7.5billion deal to buy 100 Airbus aircraft.

Pegasus will take the new Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft with 180-seat and 220-seat capacities respectively.

Airbus said: "Turkey is rapidly developing into Europe's most dynamic commercial aviation market and Pegasus is one of the major players."
