Plane lands safely after landing gear problem: Gwinnett County Airport-Briscoe Field (KLZU), Lawrenceville, Georgia

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

A small airplane landed safely at Briscoe Field in Gwinnett County just before 10 p.m. Friday after the pilot reported he was experiencing landing gear problems.

Gwinnett fire spokesman Lt. Colin Rhoden said the plane’s landing gear did not automatically lower and when the pilot tried to lower the wheels manually he didn’t get a “gear down” indicator light.

The pilot did a few fly-bys so individuals on the ground could confirm that the landing gear had, in fact, been lowered.

“[The] pilot safely landed the airplane without incident,” Rhoden said. The pilot, who was the only person on the King Air 300, had three hours of fuel on board, the spokesman said.

He landed safely around 9:45 p.m. Briscoe Field is located about two miles northeast of Lawrenceville.
