Rescuers Search Lake Michigan After Reports Of Plane Crash: Fisherman heard pilot announce emergency water landing over CB radio

CHICAGO, Ill—   Chicago police, the U.S. Coast Guard, and Indiana officials are searching for a plane that may have crashed in Lake Michigan.

They are searching near Hammond and Gary, Indiana.

Emergency crews were called in after a trucker who was fishing near the Illinois-Indiana border said he heard over his CB radio that a plane was about to make an emergency water landing.

So far, crews have not found anything in their searches of Wolf Lake, the Calumet River, and Lake Michigan.

The Federal Aviation Administration also says it has not received any reports of an aircraft making an emergency landing.

The Coast Guard is planning to resume its search later Wednesday morning.
