Buttonville Airport in Markham, Ontario: Master plan by DDG planning, architecture and design company

Buttonville

Markham, Ontario, Canada

The Buttonville master plan capitalizes on the closing of the Buttonville airport in Markham, Ontario on the northeast side of Toronto, transforming 200 acres of undeveloped land into a spectacular new sustainable mixed-use destination. Plans center on a vibrant mixed-use core, with open plazas and broad promenades connecting to the project's iconic feature: a 14-acre lake complete with a distinctive sculptural element rising in the center. The lakefront is the scene of a bustling waterfront commercial district, with restaurants, pavilions and waterside retail arcing around the water: http://www.ddg-usa.com/Projects/MU-Buttonville/Project.html
