Woman flies into LAX, goes missing

Police asked for the public’s help to find a 31-year-old Florida woman who has not been seen since she flew into Los Angeles this weekend, a Los Angeles police spokeswoman said.

Jessica Barbour’s jet arrived at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday about 10 p.m. and she has been missing since she landed at LAX, said LAPD Officer Karen Rayner, who added that detectives have confirmed Barbour was on the plane.

Barbour had traveled to Los Angeles for an undisclosed medical treatment and had arranged to meet a driver who would take her to a Pasadena treatment center, but she never met the driver, Rayner said.

Barbour is not familiar with Los Angeles and her family is concerned for her safety, Rayner said.

“She may be in need of medical care for a medical condition,” Rayner added.

The missing woman is described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 105 pounds. She also has brown hair and brown eyes, according to Rayner. Barbour was last seen wearing a pink shirt with brown stripes, pink jeans and brown high heels.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts was asked to call LAPD Detective Kristin Merrill of the Missing Persons Unit at (213) 996-1800.

Tipsters can also contact the LAPD’s tipline at 877-LAPD-24-7. All tips can be made anonymously.
