Cessna 150 operated by Air Richelieu: Transportation Safety Board of Canada deploying team to investigate an air accident in St-Hubert, QC

GATINEAU, QC, February 14, 2012 - The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is deploying a team to investigate an accident involving a Cessna 150 operated by Air Richelieu that crashed at the St-Hubert airport.

MONTREAL – A 25-year-old man alone in a light plane was found dead after it crashed about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, near St. Hubert Airport.

The plane had apparently been trying to return to the airport, just south of Montreal.

The pilot had taken off about 12:45 a.m.

Reasons for his return, whether mechanical problems or otherwise, weren't clear.

Officials from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada have launched an investigation.

Further details, including pilot's identity, were not immediately available.

LONGUEUIL, Que. — The pilot of a small plane is dead following a crash early today near the Saint-Hubert Airport south of Montreal.

The victim is a 25-year-old man, but his name has not been released.

Authorities say the plane took off from the airport shortly before 1 a.m. and the pilot attempted to return to the airport a few minutes later.

However, the Cessna 150 operated by Air Richelieu crashed in a field near the airport.

Two investigators from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada have been sent to the scene to collect more information
