What airline do you want to serve Sioux City? Sioux Gateway Airport/Col. Bud Day Field (KSUX), Iowa.

Does this sound OK?

Sioux City has a decision to make: What airline does it want to serve KSUX.

It's no easy decision - Delta Air Lines and American Airlines have offered competing proposals for a federal subsidy to serve the Sioux City airport. Delta currently serves as the airport's only carrier.

So what does the decision mean? A lot if you prefer to fly east. Delta would continue its two daily flights to Minneapolis-St. Paul International, while American would fly twice daily to Chicago's O'Hare International. Anyone from Siouxland who has flown to Chicago via the Twin Cities knows how long the trip can take for what used to be a 90-minute flight to the Windy City.

The U.S. Department of Transportation is expected to award a contract after reviewing both proposals and conducting a 30-day public comment period.

So what do you think - what airline would you prefer to serve the city? Sound off in a special online poll at siouxcityjournal.com, or find it attached to this story.
