WINNIPEG - Transport Canada has once again suspended the air operator certificate for a Manitoba airline in the interest of public safety.
The agency says it took action against Missinippi Airways after an inspection found deficiencies with the company's Operational Control System.
The inspection was carried out earlier this week to see if "corrective actions" put in place after an earlier suspension were working effectively.
A company cannot provide commercial air services in Canada without the certificate.
Transport Canada initially suspended the airline's certificate in July after inspecting a crash which killed a man when a small commercial plane slid off a runway into a ravine and caught fire in the remote northern community of Pukatawagan, about 800 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
The agency says the airline must demonstrate it meets all applicable safety regulations before its air operator certificate is reissued.
Missinippi Airways describes itself as an air service providing charter, freight, medevac and scheduled services to communities in northern Manitoba and the Arctic.
