Northwest Florida International Airport Loses Direct Flight

Beginning January 3, 2012, local travelers will have one less direct flight option out of Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport.

Delta Airlines is discontinuing direct service from Bay County to Memphis, Tennessee.

The cut is part of a cost saving measure. Delta is cutting service at 24 smaller airports like Northwest Florida Beaches International. Company officials say they are losing $14 million dollars a year on flights that are often half-full.

Delta will continue to serve the local airport with direct flights to Atlanta.
