Life Flight chopper breaks down responding to crash

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two accident victims in northwest Harris County had to wait for a second Life Flight helicopter after the first one dispatched to pick them up suddenly broke down.

The first chopper responded to the crash on Telge at Selph around 10:30pm Saturday.

A car went off the road and then went through a barbed wire fence before it crashed into some trees.

Officials said a 20-year old man and 12-year old boy inside the car were injured.

Life Flight was called, but a mechanical failure prevented it from taking off with the victims.

A second chopper was called to the scene and airlifted the man and boy to the hospital in serious but stable condition.
