Verification of names: Revised list after gaffe. Buddha Air Beech 1900D, 9N-AEK, Flight U4-103. Kathmandu, Nepal.

After the gaffe made by Nepal’s Aviation Ministry on the list of names of people killed in the plane crash, the Embassy of India in Nepal has come out with a revised list after verification of names.

“A revised list, after verification of names, has now been made available by Government of Nepal,” said the Press statement of the Indian mission in Nepal.

“A Buddha Air Mountain view flight no. BHA-103 out of Kathmandu lost contact with Kathmandu control tower this morning at 0731 hrs and was later reported as having crashed near Godavari, Lalitpur, about 20 kms from the capital Kathmandu,” it said.

The flight was carrying 19 persons onboard including 3 members of the crew. According to Nepalese authorities two persons are still missing, however, they confirmed that all Indians on the flight are reported killed.

Indian Embassy in Nepal is in constant contact with the Nepalese authorities which are carrying out search and relief operations at the site of the crash. The Indian Embassy is providing all assistance for the prompt evacuation of the remains of the Indian nationals killed in the accident.

The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu released the names of 10 Indians on board: M Maruthachalam, M Manimaran, AK Krisunan, V M Kankasabesan, T Dhansekaran, Kattoor Mahalingam, Meenakshi Sundaram, K Thyagarajan, Pankaj Mehta and Chaya Mehta.

The couple Pankaj Mehta and Chaya Mehta was employed in UN mission in Nepal, while the rest were a delegation of the Thiruchilapalli centre of Builders Association of India in Tamil Nadu who boarded the fateful flight on early Sunday morning.
