Amazing three survivors by looking at the wreckage
ReplyDeleteLFMR, Saint-Pons Airfield is a small airport in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France. ELV. 3,700. ft.
ReplyDeleteThe airport has one runway: 9/27.
Dimensions: 2625 x 98 feet / 800 x 30 meters
Surface: Hard Runway 09 Runway 27
If there was ice/snow on the runway as seen in the crash photos, it would be hard to stop that plane in 2,600' ..... especially since it was heavy at landing with 4 pax and luggage
ReplyDeleteThe French BEA (French NTSB) has published the following: En phase d'atterrissage, l'avion entre en collision avec la végétation puis prend feu.
DeleteTranslation: In the landing phase the aircraft has collided with vegetation (greenery) and then a fire broke out.
If this is true (which I believe it is) then, the condition of the runway is totally irrelevant for this accident (although it may well be that snow on the runway and the short runway has pressed the PIC to approach low and slow)?
"According to La Provence, the aircraft that arrived from Cannes went off the runway and ended up in the forest."
DeleteOriginal:
"Selon La Provence, l'appareil qui arrivait de Cannes a fait une sortie de piste et a fini sa course dans la forêt."
