  2. LFMR, Saint-Pons Airfield is a small airport in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France. ELV. 3,700. ft.
    The airport has one runway: 9/27.
    Dimensions: 2625 x 98 feet / 800 x 30 meters

  3. If there was ice/snow on the runway as seen in the crash photos, it would be hard to stop that plane in 2,600' ..... especially since it was heavy at landing with 4 pax and luggage

    1. The French BEA (French NTSB) has published the following: En phase d'atterrissage, l'avion entre en collision avec la végétation puis prend feu.
      Translation: In the landing phase the aircraft has collided with vegetation (greenery) and then a fire broke out.

      If this is true (which I believe it is) then, the condition of the runway is totally irrelevant for this accident (although it may well be that snow on the runway and the short runway has pressed the PIC to approach low and slow)?
