Looks like the second time this P-51 Mustang has been in a taxi accident. In 1971, it collided with another aircraft during taxi at Chino, CA.

And because the pilot had his head down while moving looking for a flashlight. Brake first, then look. . . .
DeleteThat pilot was Dave Tallichet who has passed away a while ago.
DeleteWhy not mount a remote camera on front cowl, and led viewer inside with proximity warning sounds as you get closer to things ahead of you. Seems like a no brainer for 3 or 4 million dollar aircraft...

I think it did say that the P-51 was hit while holding
ReplyDeleteCorrection apologize I see that it was n 3333e that made contact while taxing
ReplyDeleteI don't think the initial report of who struck whom is correct.
ReplyDelete"...who struck whom." Huh?
DeleteYour opinion is based on ... what?
DeleteGonna be some expensive new sheet metal to fix it up.
DeletePiper is currently for sale lol
DeleteI have some time in 51's. Looking forward they are completely blind. All you can see is the top of that long nose and the stacks. You have to S turn and then hope nobody pulls out a head of you. I never did run into anything but I always had that feeling that I was about to.
