Missing a door?

Hello,

A neighbors' tree has this in it (Westlake Village, California).  It looks like a door from a Aeromarine Merlin ... at least the shape of the window looks like it.

Hear of anyone losing a door in flight?

Thanks!

  1. I thought it looked more like a door off of a Beech … Bonanza/Debonair/Travelair/Baron.

    1. You are correct, judging by the latch/unlatch handle being visible in that photo at a location adjacent to the top hinge. Understanding how that door got liberated is much harder to figure out!

  2. At least it won't puncture a tire. Some asshat had a rivet fall off his experimental once on a runway and it made a nice hole in one of my tires. Only an $800 repair and waiting 3 days for the custom tire from Cirrus to come in because they chose very specific and rare sizes...

    1. Is it true that Cirrus tires are inflated with suspended gold nanoparticles?

    2. $800 for a tire change?

      1.5 - 2 hours labor and parts.

  3. Hey, how do you know an Cirrus pilot is at a party? Don't worry, they will quickly interject themselves into the conversation with some boring story that barely has anything to do with what was being discussed.

  4. Would someone from West Lake Village please post the address and kindly leave the door at the base of the tree tonight? Thanks in advance.

    1. Sure I'll get right on that, Sparky.
Westlake Village median home cost $1,548,900. Ain't no Section 8 here.

    2. Better watch out, they guard their nests aggressively. If that door has eggs up there, stand clear!

    3. That's private property. Chances are you will get shot for trespassing and theft.
