Aircraft arrived at ATL an hour and 50 minutes late from the scheduled flight. Looks like they just got some mechanics to inspect the engine at a maintenance area there with the passengers and crew still on board throughout the entire process. Good decision but I'd be curious to know if a small bird actually went through and any passengers behind the wing saw any flames out of the exhaust on the takeoff attempt.
ReplyDeleteIf the bird only passed through the perimeter/bypass portion of the fan disc and did not pass thru the compressor, inspection is simplified. No way they would be back flying quickly if a bird of significant size passed through the compressor stages.
