STOL flying for the 'Gram is not a good idea. What a joke.

    1. May be second incident as ASN listing a highlander striking power lines at same event with pilot seriously injured. N419sd. I know many pilots like these kind of events and also making remote landings, but the odds you might bend up your favorite toy, and then have hassles with insurance companies and hospital expenses.

    2. Actually a total of four wrecks, so far. There will be more. Most of them you won't here about, just like you don't here about most of the wrecks leading up to Valdez and all the others. Starting about 2010-11, there's always been a few guys who will wipe out a prop or three the week or so before the event. Since it isn't at the event, and nobody saw it, they just swap the props and go again. I saw one individual go through three props in one day, once putting it over on its back as well. Just flip it over, slap on another and go. Runout? What's that? You don't get ramp checked at Turnagain Flats or at private airparks...
