A plane sustained unspecified damage after going off a runway at Reading Regional Airport in Bern Township and into soft material on the edge of the runway, according to preliminary information posted Thursday on the Federal Aviation Administration website.

The Cessna 560XL Citation Excel with nine people onboard, including two pilots, came to a stop in soft material, known as EMAS, engineered materials arresting system, on Wednesday afternoon at the southern end of the airport along Aviation Drive.

It remained there Thursday afternoon. No injuries were reported.

Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board and other investigators were scheduled to conduct an on-scene investigation.

Heavy construction equipment was operating in the area of the grounded aircraft Thursday afternoon.

According to the Aviation Safety Network, the plane departed from Coldwater-Branch County Memorial Airport in Michigan.

It was unclear if the plane's position on the runway was impacting air traffic at Reading Regional. Airport officials were unavailable.

  3. Dang, that pilot came in HOT and high- ADSB shows he was doing 178 knots over the numbers. Should have gone around, no way to bring that thing to a stop on that runway.
