On October 4, 2020, about 1215 central daylight time, a Cessna 182G airplane, N5196S, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Bridgeport, Texas. The pilot and passenger were not injured. The airplane was operated under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight.

According to preliminary information gathered by the responding Federal Aviation Administration inspector, the pilot reported a loss of engine power while in cruise flight. The pilot was unable to reach the closest airport and landed in a field. Substantial damage was found on the fuselage.
