  2. Well, the pilot was just checking to see if the runway WAS closed. Airports like to play tricks sometimes.

  3. Could be a case of "Navigation Glass Luring".

    FlightAware shows the Bo made a 36 approach. NOTAM has 36L closed. Smaller 36R has no instrument approach procedure, looks like a taxiway from a distance.

    So maybe he was flying glass with 36L loaded and got lured into it.

    NOTAM shows month long closure of primary runway 18R/36L.
