So you land on a closed runway ... and fly into the X that tells you the runway is closed.
ReplyDeleteWell, the pilot was just checking to see if the runway WAS closed. Airports like to play tricks sometimes.
ReplyDeleteCould be a case of "Navigation Glass Luring".
ReplyDeleteFlightAware shows the Bo made a 36 approach. NOTAM has 36L closed. Smaller 36R has no instrument approach procedure, looks like a taxiway from a distance.
So maybe he was flying glass with 36L loaded and got lured into it.
NOTAM shows month long closure of primary runway 18R/36L.

The VOR/DME36L can be side-stepped to 36R or circled to 9.
DeleteMaybe he was thinking, “ X “ marks the spot”!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!!!
