CLARK COUNTY, Ohio — Troopers of the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are currently investigating a non-injury plane crash that occurred about 12:50 a.m. Saturday at the Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport in Green Township, Clark County.

Mark Teixeira, 52, of Jacksonville, Florida, was operating a Piper PA-32-300 Cherokee Six plane. The airplane reported was attempting to land and ran out of fuel, causing it to lose altitude and it crashed into a heavy brush area.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Springfield City Fire Department and the Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport Manager.

The Federal Aviation Administration has been contacted and will be investigating.

    1. No pilots show up in the Airmen Database for that last name. New LLC associated with his name Feb 2020 and new certificate for the Piper April 2020.

Maybe he was training and airmen database is lagging. One recent flight shows lots of circling at an airport - instruction, maybe?

    2. Revised spelling from Teixeria to Teixeira shows up a Mark in the Airmen Database. Address is opt out, but NTSB will know. Probably legit pilot.

  2. I am guessing the last name was mispelled. Maybe more like Teixeira

  4. Flight was about 4.5 hours duration. Photo shows it had tip tanks, so 85 gallon capacity if all tanks were filled. Flightaware has the flight, second link is the photo.

  5. That's about how long it would stay in the air if you forgot to lean it.
