SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) - Authorities say no one was hurt when a small plane went down in a field near Rose Hill on Friday.

Emergency crews were called at around 1:10 p.m. to the report of a plane crash at Cook Airfield in the 6800 block of South 143rd Street East. Capt Mark Pierce with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office said the pilot reported losing engine power while a student was flying.

"The student that was taking flying lessons turned the plane over to the pilot and they were able to land out here just to the north of Cook Airfield."

Capt. Pierce said both the pilot and student are doing well and "going to move on with their day."
