KUALA LUMPUR: The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) has cautioned the public to exercise caution if they participate in an upcoming aviation event in Putrajaya.
The event, dubbed SeaPlane@Putrajaya, involves allowing members of the public to fly microlight aircraft for a fee. The event is scheduled to be held on January 20, 2018 at the Putrajaya Recreational Airfield, Precinct 6 from 10am to 5pm.
DCA, in a statement today, said the event, organized by OneDayPilot, has not received an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the department.
DCA director-general Datuk Seri Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said the department was made aware of the event via social media postings.
“DCA wish to inform members of the public that the department has not issued any AOC to the organisation involved.
“For aircraft operation involving the transport of passengers for hire or reward, an AOC issued by the director-general is a requirement.
“Since Putrajaya is a government office and housing area, DCA feels that safety of the public is of utmost importance and priority. This is solely a precautionary and safety measure and to hinder any issues that might arise,” he said.
