Incident occurred December 15, 2017 at Hemet-Ryan Airport (KHMT), Riverside County, California

An airplane was involved in an accident at Hemet-Ryan Airport today, but no one was injured.

The Hemet Fire Department received reports of a “plane down” about 11:20 a.m. and several engine crews rolled to the airport, located at Stetson Avenue and Warren Road.

A Cal Fire administrator working at the field said that no one was hurt, and the main runway was not blocked, according to reports from the scene.

Cal Fire maintains an air attack base with a fleet of water-dropping helicopters and air tankers at the airport, from which they deploy to wildfires throughout the Inland Empire. The plane was not one of theirs, however.

The Riverside County Economic Development Agency manages the airport, and officials told City News Service they were investigating the circumstances.

A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman told CNS the agency had not yet been informed of the accident.
