Build Knoxville Awards highlight area's best construction projects

The Associated General Contractors of Tennessee-Knoxville Branch Build Knoxville Awards honored five of the area's AGC members who built this year''s most impressive construction projects in the area.

The program selects projects on criteria including state-of-the-art advancement, project management, innovation in construction techniques or materials, safety record, client service, community relations and environmental efforts.

Blaine Construction Corporation received the award for a commercial project less than $5 million for Cirrus Hangar 1 project, which consists of a 15,000-square-foot Cirrus Aircraft Factory Service Hangar. The modeling software used enabled collaboration with American Buildings Company and a paint booth manufacturer who supplied models that were integrated with the architects and engineer's model to coordinate trades work and materials for a quicker construction schedule. The hangar also featured a hangar door that cantilevers out of the building opening and raises automatically with a handheld device.
