BURLINGTON, Vt. - Some of the jets in the Wings Over Vermont Airshow are in town practicing for the event. And police in Burlington received numerous calls Thursday about the noise.
Chief Brandon del Pozo is urging the public not to call 911 about the noise, saying it ties up the emergency phone line.
In a statement, del Pozo said, "No number of calls to the police will alter the plans for the show or the level of noise it creates. They will, however, tie up our lines and hinder our ability to respond to emergency calls."
Del Pozo said in exchange for the noise, "Wings Over Vermont will provide Vermonters and visitors with a unique opportunity to see some of the finest aerial displays of precision flying anywhere."
