Ghana Airports Company Limited receives aerodrome operating certificate

The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has presented an Aerodrome Operating Certificate to the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL).

The presentation certifies that the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) has been audited and found to be compliant with the GCAA, and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) requirements.

Mr. Charles Asare, Managing Director of the GACL, received the certificate and said the KIA had demonstrated high standards across all aspects of airport operations including construction of new airside infrastructure such as taxiways, runway touchdown zones and aeronautical ground lighting system.

He said that the GACL played a key role towards achieving the vision of the Government to make Ghana the preferred gateway to West Africa.

“We will continue to commit ourselves to safety and security to justify this award,” Mr. Asare said, expressing his appreciation to the Ministry of Transport, the GCAA and the Government of Ghana for their support.

Mr. Simon Allotey, Director General of the GCAA, who presented the certificate to Mr. Asare, congratulated the Management and Staff of Ghana Airports Company Ltd for their achievement.

“We appreciate your commitment and support for the entire certification process. I wish to congratulate the management and staff of the GACL and GCAA, particularly the Safety Regulation Department for their Support”, he said.

Mr. Allotey also congratulated the GCAA Aerodrome safety and Standards Team led by Mrs Anita Adjei Nmashie, and the GACL certification team led by Mr. Charles Hanson Adu for their dedication and hard work which earned the GACL the certificate.

By the award, the GACL fulfills the Abuja Declaration that all African International Airports be certified before the end of the year 2015.
