PHOENIX - A pilot was uninjured when his plane went off the runway at a Phoenix airport Thursday afternoon, according to authorities.

Phoenix Fire Capt. Mark Vanacore said a  single-engine airplane had landing gear problems and ran off the runway at Deer Valley Airport in North Phoenix.

Vanacore said there was no fire and the pilot told firefighters he was not injured.

Crews remained on the scene to make sure there were no further hazards.

There was no word on the cause of the landing gear problems.
