Flight Canceled, Travelers Stranded at Asheville Regional Airport (KAVL), North Carolina

FLETCHER, N.C. -- Some passengers flying out of Asheville Regional Airport were stranded for the night on Wednesday.

Allegiant Airlines cancelled its Wednesday night flight to Fort Myers, Florida. Rich Hanson and his family waited hours only to find out the flight was grounded. Hanson says it's a disappointment not being able to make it home on time for Thanksgiving.

"It's Thanksgiving!" Hanson said. "Once we checked in, we couldn't go anyplace to eat or do anything. We weren't told anything that was going on."

Allegiant rescheduled the flight for 7 a.m. Thursday.

The airline offered passengers travel vouchers or the option of taking the morning flight. Most flights out of Asheville were on time Wednesday.
