Man knocked unconscious during Air France flight, files lawsuit

An Orland Park man who fractured his ankle and was knocked unconscious while using an airplane’s lavatory filed a federal lawsuit Friday against the airline.

Charles Benson was on an Air France flight heading from Paris to Detroit on Jan. 18, 2013, according to the lawsuit. About three or five hours into the flight, Benson decided to walk around and use the airplane’s bathroom.

While in the lavatory, however, Benson slipped and fell on a “slippery substance” and fractured his ankle, the suit said.

He then passed out as a result “of the severity of pain in his ankle,” according to the suit.

The one-count suit is seeking more than $50,000.
