Police investigate shooting at Shreveport Regional Airport (KSHV), Louisiana

SHREVEPORT, La - Shreveport Police are investigating a shooting involving a security officer at the Shreveport Regional Airport. 

At approximately 10:12 p.m. Tuesday, Shreveport Police were called to the Shreveport Regional Airport in the 5100 block of Hollywood Avenue relative to a shooting involving a member of the airport's security force.

Authorities received a call from a cab driver reporting an airport security officer had shot out one of the tires of his cab.

When officers arrived they detained the cab driver and contacted airport personnel.

Investigators were immediately notified and responded to the scene.

Based on a preliminary investigation, detectives believe there was some sort of dispute between the cab driver and an on-duty airport security officer.

As the cab driver allegedly attempted to leave the facility, the officer fired one shot from his duty weapon striking the vehicle's front passenger side tire.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police crime scene investigators are working to analyze surveillance video recovered from the airport.

The cab driver, who is not being charged with a crime at this time, was released and the involved airport employee has been placed on administrative leave with pay while the investigation into this matter continues.

Shreveport Police detectives are investigating a shooting involving a security officer at the Shreveport Regional Airport Tuesday night. 

Shreveport Police patrol officers went to Shreveport Regional Airport in the 5100 block of Hollywood Avenue just before 10:15 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a call about an airport security officer firing his gun. At about the same time, police received a call from a cab driver reporting that a security guard had shot out a tire of the driver's cab. No one was injured in the incident.

Detectives believe there was some sort of dispute between the cab driver and an on-duty airport security officer, said Cpl. Marcus Hines, a Shreveport Police Department spokesman.

As the cab driver allegedly attempted to leave the airport, the officer fired one shot from his duty weapon striking the vehicle's front passenger side tire.

Police crime scene investigators will analyze surveillance video recovered from the airport. The cab driver, who is not being charged with a crime at this time. The airport employee was placed on administrative leave with pay as the investigation continues, Hines said.
