Drunk Man Crashes Beechcraft B60 Duke (C-GBDJ)

Pintendre (Quebec) August 19, 2014 – The owner of a private small landing field in Pintendre got behind the controls of his plane Sunday and attempted to take off, but ended up crashing his aircraft into a nearby fence.

M. Bernier was arrested at the scene and was tested for alcohol levels in his system.

It was discovered that his level of alcohol was well past the permitted maximum of .08.

His plane never left the ground, but instead veered off the short runway and ended up in the surrounding fence.

M. Bernier had made threats the night before to a neighboring resident that he was going to destroy the man’s house.

It is not known if M.Bernier had the intention of crashing his plane into the resident’s house, which is directly next to the runway.

M. Bernier has been in a dispute with the city of Lévis for some time over the right to have a parachute school on his land.

The city claims that the airfield is not zoned to operate such a school and M. Bernier has been fighting with the city for two years concerning the restrictions and the case was entering judicial status this July.

Since the crash on Sunday M. Bernier will now be facing charges of being in control of a motorized vehicle under the influence of alcohol, driving with an alcohol level of more than .08 and making threats.

He was fined $500 and is restrained from talking to or confronting M. Lapointe, the owner of the house that M. Bernier threatened to destroy.
