Helicopter makes rough landing; no one hurt

HANCOCK COUNTY - No one was injured when a helicopter made a rough landing and ended up on its side in a Hancock County field Saturday morning.

Helicopter pilot Tim Payne and his passenger, his 8-year-old daughter Stella, were not hurt when the helicopter went down shortly after departing  Indianapolis Regional Airport in Mt. Comfort shortly after 10 a.m. It landed in a field just northeast of the intersection of CR 500N and CR 600W.

At the scene on Saturday, representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration were on hand documenting the incident and more information will be released when their study is concluded.

UPDATE: No injuries in Hancock County helicopter crash 

Authorities are investigating a helicopter crash in a field in Hancock County.

It happened just after 10:00 am Saturday, in the 5700 block west of County Road 500 North near the Indianapolis Regional Airport in Hancock County.

The pilot and a little girl aboard the plane were able to walk away from the crash and are okay.

What caused the rotorcraft to come crashing down isn't clear.

Crews worked for several hours to remove the wreckage and to continue their investigation.
