Peterborough Airport, Canada

Landing gear malfunction led to fire trucks rushing to Peterborough's airport

PETERBOROUGH - Fire crews rushed to the municipal airport shortly after 2 p.m. today after a pilot reported that a plane's landing gear malfunctioned, making it unable to alight safely.

The gear would not lower and lock, according to the pilot.

Emergency crews responded and prepared to ensure the fastest possible response to the troubled aircraft.

The emergency was averted when, at the last moment, the landing gear came down and locked in place.

The aircraft did sustain damage but all occupants were not hurt.
