Cessna 177RG, N35942: Aircraft on landing, gear collapsed, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (KAVP), Pennsylvania

Single engine aircraft declaring in flight emergency when rear landing wheels fail to deploy. 

Aircraft original destination was private owned Seamans Field Airport (9N3) in Factoryville, Pennsylvania.

Pilot choose to divert to public facility Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (KAVP) where on site Crash/Fire/Rescue is available.

After repeated efforts to get wheels to deploy, an emergency landing in grass was successfully executed along runway 10/28.

Three occupants self extricated safely and without injury.
