MAUMELLE, AR -- On Saturday, crews with the Entergy power company worked to remove downed trees and replace power lines after some powerful storms hit parts of Maumelle this week.

Crews worked late into the night on Friday returning power to all but 3,200 customers, but strong storms Saturday pushed the number back up to 10,000 homes without power at the highest.

"It's been a lot of work and a lot of effort but everybody's been around and been a lot of big help and everything so we really appreciate everybody," said James Sanhope, who had two big trees come down in his yard.

Sanhope said he was told not to expect power to be back on until Monday.

Late Saturday night Entergy reported the number out customers without power had been trimmed to around 2,000.

Work has been slowed by flooding that has made some areas difficult to access.

On Sunday, Entergy officials expect to have a helicopter air saw at their disposal.  Officials said they are flying it in from Birmingham to assist in the cleanup effort, hoping it will help them access flooded areas.
