Engine problems cause emergency landing south of Jamestown, North Dakota

At about 1:45 Tuesday afternoon 46-year-old Keith Melius was forced to land his single-engine airplane in a snow-covered field. The incident occurred about 1/2 mile west of the intersection of Highway 281 and Highway 46, approximately 17 miles south of Jamestown, North Dakota.  Engine problems were cited as the cause for the incident. Melius maintained control of the plane throughout the approach and landing and was not injured.  The aircraft suffered some damage. The incident is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.
