UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The University Park Airport has been closed
this evening (Dec. 26) as a result of the current winter storm. Crews
will begin clearing snow at the airport beginning at 5 a.m. on Thursday,
Dec. 27, and the airport will reopen when conditions permit. The first
major winter storm of the season has lead to flight cancellations across
the Northeast. As of 9:45 p.m., much of central Pennsylvania remains
under a Winter Storm Warning. According to the National Weather Service
(NWS), total snow accumulation in State College is expected to be
between 6 and 9 inches. Snowfall will continue well into the overnight
hours and will end with a period of light snow or freezing drizzle early
Thursday morning.
