Police in Fargo investigating incident involving laser lights pointed at airplane cockpits

Police got the call last night around ten from the airport tower that a green laser was pointing into a plane’s cockpit. Within 10 minutes, another call came in saying it happened again to another plane.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Fargo Police are looking into an incident after planes at Hector International Airport were hit by lasers. 

Police got the call last night around ten from the airport tower that a green laser was pointing into a plane’s cockpit. Within 10 minutes, another call came in saying it happened again to another plane.

One plane was a commercial plane, and the other was a smaller plane. Police say it’s dangerous, and incidents like this are taken very seriously.

Lt. Joel Vettel – Fargo Police: “A felony charge that is directly related to the behavior that they're describing, and deals with aviation, it deals with the distraction, or purposely utilizing something that might blind somebody from pilot in the aircraft.”

Both aircrafts landed safely. If you have any information, please call police.
