Man gets finger stuck in landing gear of aircraft at Sydney Airport

A 50-year-old man has been freed after having his finger stuck in the landing gear of an aircraft at Sydney Airport.

The man had his finger stuck in the landing gear today just after 3:45pm at the Qantas jet base, at the international terminal, an ambulance media spokeswoman has confirmed.

"He has since been freed, and ambulance paramedics are still on the scene," the spokeswoman said.

Qantas later today said an engineer had actually slipped and broken his thumb.

"We’ll conduct an internal safety investigation to ensure the incident is unlikely to occur again," a Qantas spokeswoman said.
