16 years later, Ottawa accepts Transportation Safety Board suggestion.

Sixteen years after the Transportation Safety Board first suggested aircraft be required to install terrain warning systems, Ottawa is accepting a bid to reduce small plane crashes.

Many in the aviation industry say the plan is sound and will save lives, while others think it's a move by the federal government to eliminate the private aviation industry.

The board recommendations date back to 1995 after seven people died in a crash in Sandy Lake Ontario.
