Socata Trinidad ditched off Filfla. (Malta International Airport)

A 1999 Socata Trinidad aircraft was ditched off Filfla this morning. The aircraft had just departed from Malta International Airport a few minutes earlier.

The pilot radioed the Air Traffic Control for help after the aircraft developed problems while flying along the West coast of Malta.

The Socata Trinidad was able to glide for a few minutes before the pilot crash landed the aircraft near Filfla. The aircraft floated for a while enabling the pilot to deploy a dinghy.

It has been reported that the pilot has survived and is safe.
