Emirates Airlines has offered new information on possible Bermuda links talked about by Government in last week’s Throne Speech.
Yesterday morning an Emirates spokeswoman said the airline was hoping to attract customers from Bermuda through its existing partnership, or “interline agreement” with JetBlue airlines.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ divisional senior vice-president, planning and research said in a statement: “Bermuda is a significant offline market for Emirates and thanks to our interline agreement with JetBlue, customers from Bermuda can now enjoy award-winning service, combined fares, boarding passes and two free checked bags through to their final Emirates destination, with quick and easy connections from JetBlue’s Terminal 5, which is adjacent to Emirates Terminal 4 at JFK airport.”
Government had announced in the Throne Speech last week the “possibility of new air links with Emirates Airlines connecting Bermuda to dynamic and wealthy states in the Middle East including Dubai, Bahrain and Qatar”.
Emirates spokeswoman Elizabeth Opalka said the airline had plans to launch services to Bermuda, but later provided the above information.
Last November JetBlue and Emirates announced a partnership to allow customers to book a single ticket for connecting travel involving both carriers.
The airlines said travellers could book a single combined ticket for JetBlue and Emirates-operated flights and enjoy one-stop check-in and baggage transfer between the airlines.
Emirates offers two daily non-stop flights from JFK to Dubai and onto over 100 destinations across the Middle East, Africa, India, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
Emirates is known for its in-flight services, including 1,000 channels of entertainment, private first-class suites and the airline’s new Airbus A380’s have two showers on board with spa features.
