Cessna C172-PK NIP: Search for missing plane continues. (Jakarta, Indonesia)

CIREBON: The search for the missing Cessna C172-PK NIP, belonging to PT Nusa Flying School, continued until late on Thursday afternoon. The search was conducted from Cirebon-Indramayu until the hilly region of Kalijati in Subang and Lembang in Bandung regency, West Java.

The aircraft, which was used to train aviation students, left Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta at 7:33 a.m. on Wednesday and was reported missing at 8:53 a.m. after losing contact over Cirebon, West Java.

Three people were on board on the aircraft. They were instructor pilot Capt. Partogi Sianipar, 25, and students Muhammad Fikriansyah, 19, and Agung Febrian.

“We have been searching since Wednesday but so far no sign of the aircraft has been found,” coordinator of National Search and Rescue Agency’s Cirebon branch, Suyatno, told The Jakarta Post on Thursday.

He said the agency had deployed a special team comprising 11 personnel to search along the Cirebon — Indramayu coastal areas. A helicopter search was also conducted over waters close to Cirbeon with the support of the agency’s central office.

“The result is still zero,” he said, adding that the search would not be stopped until they received instructions from the central office to do so.

TEMPO Interactive, Indramayu, West Java:   A training aircraft with registration number PK-NIP has gone missing since Wednesday. The aircraft, belonging to the Nusa Flying International School, lost contact after departing from the Halim Perdanakusumah Airport in Jakarta to Cirebon. However, the ground officers were unable to contact the aircraft at 7,500 feet.

Search and rescue efforts were carried out on Thursday by several elements around Purwakarta and Cirebon area. Adj. Sr. Comr. Ujang Bachtiar Purnama, the Purwakarta Resort Police chief, contacted by TEMPO on Thursday, said that, as of Thursday evening, there were no signs of the aircraft in his jurisdiction. “We canvassed three areas: the Bojong, Wanayasa, and Kiarapedes districts. But, we still haven’t found the aircraft,” said the chief.

Ujang continued that his squad and some elements of the community have been searching along the areas suspected of being the location of the missing aircraft. “The search effort will be conducted tomorrow [Friday] by working together with the motor-trail community who are accustomed to exploring the jungle,” said Ujang.
