No injuries after plane's landing gear malfunctions at Griffiss International Airport (KRME) Rome, New York.

ROME —A small aircraft landed safely at Griffiss Airport on Sunday afternoon despite a malfunction in its landing gear, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office said.

The aircraft, piloted by Bradley Czerkies, of Clinton, landed at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday. As it was landing, the landing gear retracted, causing the plane to land on its belly, deputies said.

Czerkies was the only pasenger at the time and was uninjured, deputies said.

The Griffiss Fire and Rome fire departments assisted at the scene. The incident is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.
