The Carroll County Board of Commissioners discussion on the proposed runway extension at the Carroll County Regional Airport scheduled for Thursday morning has been canceled.
The board agreed to postpone a final decision on the runway extension for a period of at least 60 days. According to a prepared release, the commissioners believe a delay is necessary to gather more information in order to determine a course that best serves the residents of Carroll County.
The proposed project calls for expanding the runway 1,300 feet so that it totals 6,400 feet in length. If the board decides to move forward with the project, the county must fund approximately $1.85 million of the $74 million expansion project.
