TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, Alabama (WBMA) — A small plane made an emergency landing in the community of Fosters in Tuscaloosa County Friday.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department said the pilot of the Cessna 150 was not injured when the plane landed in a field off Sanders Ferry Road shortly before 10:30 a.m.

Police said the pilot, a 46-year-old Hoover resident, was headed toward the Tuscaloosa National Airport, when the plane lost power at a low altitude.

Damage caused by the two-seater plane included a clipped guide wire of a power pole which caused minor damage to one of the wings.

Police said Alabama Power technicians responded to repair the wire an no service was interrupted.

Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's deputies, TPD officers and Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue all responded to the incident. Police said TPD’s Air 1 helicopter and TCSO’s drone operators assisted personnel on the ground to locate the emergency landing site.

Police said the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will conduct the follow-up investigation.
