A small plane went down in a field near Wardsville on Wednesday night and the pilot had no reported injuries.
According to authorities, shortly before 7 p.m., the Jefferson City 911 Center was contacted by air traffic control in Springfield that a small plane could be landing at the Jefferson City Airport that was reportedly in distress.
The pilot reported low oil pressure and smoke in the cockpit. Controllers reported the plane had dipped below radar contact and the plane would be coming in from the south.
Initially, authorities believed the plane went down in Osage County. The Osage County Sheriff's Department began looking for the plane as the pilot was in contact with air controllers.
Not long before 8 p.m., the plane was found in a field near Friendship Road in Cole County.
The Cole County Sheriff's Department said the Missouri Highway Patrol was called in to do a report on the incident.
