Federal Bureau of Investigation and Federal Aviation Administration Investigating Another Reported Jet Pack Sighting in Los Angeles County, California

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, California (CNS) — Authorities Thursday are investigating another reported jet pack sighting in the Los Angeles area, this time off the coast of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Sling Pilot Academy, a Torrance-based flight school, posted footage on their Instagram of the possible jet pack, which they said one of their instructors saw while flying at an altitude of about 3,000 feet near the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

The video shows a figure flying above the ocean with Catalina Island in the background. It's not clear in the video if the figure is a person or a drone.

The FBI, which has investigated other reported jet pack sightings this year in Los Angeles, could not immediately be reached for comment, but an official told the Los Angeles Times, "We're aware of it and are continuing to investigate the reports."

The sighting occurred on Monday, the Times reported.

"The FAA has not received any recent reports from pilots who believe they may have seen someone in a jetpack in the skies around Los Angeles," the agency said in a statement Thursday afternoon. "The FAA has taken the sighting reports it has received seriously, and has worked closely with the FBI to investigate them. However, the FAA has been unable to validate the reports."

On October 14, a flight crew aboard China Airlines Flight 006 spotted what appeared to be a person flying a jet pack 6,000 feet above the ground about seven miles northwest of Los Angeles International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The FAA was also investigating an August 30 sighting of what appeared to be a person in a jet pack about 3,000 feet above the ground in the Cudahy and South Gate areas.

  1. The laws of physics and rationality says it is a drone shaped like a human.

My tinfoil hat theory says its an eccentric rocket science billionaire who has no regards for FAA regulations when he's off the clock.

  2. So easy to build a powered Manny Quinn fake.

  3. This is awesome, but the guy had to be in Bravo.

  4. The Jet pack is real but that is not a human strapped to it,my guess would be a full sized radio controlled model,a few are flying in Germany, you would not risk a human flight over water even if they could get to 3,000 feet.Drone paranoia.

  5. Fake jet pack drone very dangerous at that altitude and airspace
